Together for Independence

The Philip J. Rock Center and School is more than a facility; it is an extended family to parents and their children who live with both hearing and vision disabilities. Our devoted staff accompany the kids throughout the day, constantly working toward the goal of helping each student live as independently as possible according to their personal abilities. The shared vision of "Together for Independence" makes this a reality.

Keep checking in! We are currently working with the Capital Development Board and LCM Architects on the Design Development for our new facility. We have a design for the exterior of the building that has our staff anxious to move in!

PRC new facility
Executive Director's message Bonnie Jordan
This is the year of great things happening at the Rock - it starts with this updated website! We look forward to sharing the wonderful activities and achievements of our students, from elementary up to transition. Our design development phase is finished for the new facility, and we will be working on the construction drawings with the hope of breaking ground in 2023! We have started the academic year, and the students are getting used to the routines. Over the summer we celebrated our staff and their commitment to our students. Most of our staff have been here for over 7 years - some as long as 42 years. I am proud of our dedicated staff who are amazing at what they do!
The Rock has created partnerships with the Morton Arboretum so that we have STEM activities that involve all our senses. This summer, the students had a sensory walk and planted herbs that are still growing in our playground garden. I cannot wait to see what will happen this fall!

And the best news - the Rock Family is starting an educational foundation to support our students! The Philip J. Rock Center Foundation has been created. Please click here if you would like to donate to help be a "voice for the voiceless." This facility was Philip J. Rock's proudest legislative moment. We are proud to carry on his legacy.
