Allyson Peters

Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TOD/HH)

About Me
Elementary teacher with student on first day of second grade 2022.
My name is Allyson Peters, this year marks my 5th year as a teacher at Philip J Rock Center and School. I received my undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Iowa and Master degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at Saint Joseph’s University of Pennsylvania. I enjoy being outdoors, traveling, spending time with my family and attending local concerts and sporting events.
Staff and student in the elementary classroom.

My goal as the elementary teacher is to provide a safe, educational, and nurturing environment for students to grow. Total communication (voice, sign language, tactile objects, picture cues/cards) is used in the classroom to allow students access to functional academics, curriculum, and social experiences. Daily activities include but are not limited to mathematics, storytelling, crafts, cooking, social studies, science, vocational training tasks and community learning/outings. My role is to teach, support, encourage, comfort, and listen to our students. I collaborate with our team of support staff including Paraprofessionals, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Vision Itinerant, O&M Specialist, Physical Therapist, Nurse, and Behavior Specialist to ensure our students receive the support they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. I look forward to another great school year and creating an inclusive environment for our students and families! Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions: Email Allyson Peters.
